Ryan Adams Information
Singer/songwriter Ryan Adams has announced dates for a tour of the West Coast in early 2008, before he goes into the studio to record his new album with backing band The Cardinals. Adams already spent several months of 2007 on the road this year supporting his "Easy Tiger," set, but he is raring to go again. He followed “Easy Tiger” with a new EP, "Follow the Lights," which was released in October, 2007. Two new songs - “Follow The Lights” and “My Love For You Is Real” - plus a remarkable cover of Alice In Chains' "Down in a Hole" make this EP one of 2007’s more eclectic offerings by a mainstream artist, typical of Adams, who likes to experiment with his sound. Small wonder that Ryan Adams tickets are always in short supply, but he came from relatively humble beginnings.
The prolific alt-country/rocker from Jacksonville, North Carolina, was raised by his mother and grandmother. After dropping out of school aged just 16, the musical Adams moved to Raleigh and formed Whiskeytown, the band that would set him on the road to stardom. Adams decided to make a go of it alone after his third Whiskeytown album, and in 2000 he released Heartbreaker, his first solo attempt.
Adams has since produced albums by Willie Nelson and appeared on albums by famous artists like Toots and the Maytals, Beth Orton, and Cowboy Junkies, whose 2007 album “Trinity Revisited” Adams played on. Adams featured on Country Music Tour's Crossroads TV show with Elton John, too, proving that he can adapt to many different musical styles. When Adams goes back on the road with his backing band, The Cardinals, he will be thinking about another project he’s mentioned recently; a new album, just Ryan Adams, no Cardinals.
